Bazzani Associates is the recognized authority in Green design, construction, and real estate development in Western Michigan. Sustainability has been our corporate model since our inception in 1983. Recent projects have included the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan anticipating a LEED-NC Gold certification. This project included the renovation of a former City of Grand Rapids Fire Station built in 1913. Careful design and attention to detail turned an obsolete building into a high performance structure. Other projects have included the East Hills Center (of the Universe) the first Double Gold (LEED-CS/LEED-CI) project in the world. This building was a new retail center built on a brownfield urban infill site in Grand Rapids. The building features super energy efficient construction, passive solar design techniques, a vegetative green roof and rain garden, and energy efficient lighting. This was the first urban infill site in the City of Grand Rapids to be a zero-stormwater discharge site. All stormwater that falls on the site is collected, naturally filtered, and released to the water table with no connection to the municipal storm sewer.
